Thanks to Alix from Lumiere Photography we are able to sharie this beautiful DIY outdoor wedding in Sweden. Starting at at the modern Scandic Hotel in Stockholm where the bride was getting ready, Sahra and Erik’s wedding turned into an outdoor wedding at Erik’s parent’s country house with lots of homemade decorations and blankets… to keep them warm! We hope you like it as much as we do!
Here is what Alix said about the wedding:
Have you ever been a present? Well for this wedding I was! It was a totally home-made, diy wedding and the groom’s brother flew me in to be their photographer. I’d’ met him at another wedding in Morocco. The bride and groom got ready separately at a beautifully stylish hotel, then made their way to the groom’s parents’ country house. It had been raining all week but this was a beautiful day.
They had a celebrant who did their wedding outside, they had decorated the place with ribbons and home made signs. The groom met the bride half way so he had the first look feel- and emotion- as well as walking down together. The guests were in a semi circle around them and later participated with music, songs, games etc. They had different games areas, with boules, table tennis, etc. but they also had blankets on the floor for a lovely picnic, and a magazine with their story and quotes from their friends about love and what they loved in their partner. The kids had plenty of space to play, and we took the couples’ son to see the horses, so had a mini shoot with him and some bridal portraits on the way too.
The couple shots were taken in two different moments to make the most of different scenery and light. We used a flash in the forest for more fashion like shots and used the sunset light for more intimate, tender moments.
At night we had a marquee as it got cooler, there was an outdoor dance floor but it was very very dark. All the food was cooked by the family: babrecue, salads, cakes. Al in all it was a really lovely day, and they now have a little girl too.
